ALLEGAN, Michigan — The Perrigo Company Charitable Foundation is pleased to announce that it has donated a total of $200,000 to Junior Achievement of the Michigan Great Lakes (JA) to support educational advancement for young people by providing them with real world experiences needed to be successful future citizens. An amount of $125,000 of this donation will go towards a Junior Achievement BizTown Storefront sponsorship. JA BizTown is a learning lab for fifth and sixth-grade students where they operate a town and learn to be good citizens, consumers, and employees. The Perrigo Outlet Store will establish a storefront in this simulation that will operate similarly to the retail shop it operates in Allegan.

An additional $75,000 will go towards Junior Achievement’s “Building Futures…Inspiring Dreams” Campaign to establish a scholarship fund for schools to attend the Junior Achievement Free Enterprise Center Learning labs. The scholarship will be allocated to students with financial need in the following communities where Perrigo operates, in the following amounts:

•    Allegan County - $45,000
•    Ottawa County - $15,000
•    Kent County - $15,000

“We are so excited to continue our partnership with Junior Achievement and help support the financial literacy and educational advancement of young people in West Michigan, which furthers Perrigo’s efforts to advance self-care and help families manage their own health and well-being,” said Rich Sorota, Executive Vice President and President of Perrigo’s Consumer Self-Care Americas business. “By establishing a Perrigo Storefront in JA BizTown, individuals can gain the knowledge and experience they need to support their personal success and be active participants in our communities. We also are pleased to contribute to scholarships that can remove barriers for young people to access these life-changing experiences, from communities where Perrigo has facilities.”

Since 1955, Junior Achievement of the Michigan Great Lakes has been providing educational programming in financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship to young people in order prepare them to succeed in a global economy. For the last 30 years, Perrigo has played an essential role in Junior Achievement’s ability to serve the young people of West Michigan through financial and volunteer support.
