DUBLIN, Ireland and Allegan, Michigan – March 13, 2019 --The Perrigo Company Charitable Foundation is proud to announce it has donated $130,000 to Kids’ Food Basket, an organization focused on nourishing children to reach their full potential.

A community celebration in honor of the donation took place at Kids’ Food Basket’s Holland location, where the Perrigo Company Charitable Foundation presented a $130,000 check. Kids' Food Basket provides a nutritious take-home evening meal, filling a critical daily need to thousands of elementary aged children affected by hunger each day through their flagship Sack Supper Program.

The first $30,000 of the gift will go towards programing in Ottawa County to sustain 900 students this academic year at 6 sites. The additional $100,000 will be used for Kids’ Food Basket’s expansion into Allegan County, which will help reach more at-risk children. According to Kids’ Food Basket 11,820 Allegan County residents are food-insecure, with 24% of the population are children under the age of 18.

“Perrigo Company and Perrigo Foundation has demonstrated their belief in our work for over a decade, through leadership volunteerism, volunteerism, sponsorship and philanthropy,” shares Bridget Clark Whitney, Founding Chief Executive Officer of Kids’ Food Basket. “Their executives have taken their own personal time to invest in the effectiveness, efficiency and growth of the organization. They believe in the power of nutritious Sack Suppers, and how this tool can transform classrooms and brighten futures. We are so grateful.”
Tom Farrington, Perrigo’s Executive Vice President, Chief Information Officer and President of the Perrigo Company Charitable Foundation has been an active donor and one of many Perrigo employees who volunteer with Kids’ Food Basket throughout the year.

Farrington says, “Our children are truly our future, and I can’t think of a more basic need than making sure they have access to nutritious food so that they can grow and learn. It’s something many of us take for granted, so it’s an honor to support such an important organization.”

For nearly a decade, Perrigo Company Charitable Foundation donated approximately $375,000 toward our Kent and Ottawa County programs, providing the nourishment children need, and equipping them with the education to make healthy food choices lifelong.
