DUBLIN, Ireland and Allegan, Michigan – November 21, 2019 – As an early Thanksgiving gift Perrigo is proud to announce the donation of a Perrigo building appraised at $320,000 to Safe Harbor in Allegan, Michigan. Perrigo held a ceremony to present the keys in honor of the the transition of the building ownership to Safe Harbor Children’s Advocacy Center.
The building has been in Perrigo’s possession for many decades. Safe Harbor, an Allegan County organization, offers assistance to abused and neglected children. In 2018, Safe Harbor guided 366 children through forensic interviews in cases of suspected abuse and neglect. Perrigo’s donation will allow the organization to expand from 2,400 square feet to 6,000 square feet and with plenty of space for counseling rooms, forensic interviews, and a medical suite.
Lori Antkoviak, Executive Director Safe Harbor Children’s Advocacy Center said, “Perrigo is lighting the way for children in our community that have been victimized by abuse and neglect. Through the donation of this building, multiple counseling and child interview rooms will be designed for the varying ages Safe Harbor serves, and will create an environment safe for them to begin their healing process.”
After meeting with Safe Harbor to understand their needs, the idea of the building donation began to form and take shape. In 2017, Perrigo began renovating the building with the intent to make it ready for public use instead of commercial work.

The building’s size and location, along with its adjoining parking lot, create an ideal setting for Safe Harbor to serve its clients. We are honored to help Safe Harbor ensure its services are accessible to the children who need them most.”
Safe Harbor will continue to renovate the interior of the building now that the organization has possession of the building.
