People – Our Core Asset

Since our founding in 1887, Perrigo has taken pride in improving the lives of the families we serve. Beginning in a rural American region meant that as Perrigo grew, we not only employed individuals, but entire communities. This sense of community, and commitment to employees, has persevered over the years. Today, as a global pharmaceutical company, Perrigo's employee base spans the globe.

We believe happy, healthy and safe employees are more engaged and more productive employees; therefore, we view our people as a critical investment. By offering competitive wages and benefits, world-class safety programs, preventative wellness programs and wide variety of development initiatives, we strive to ensure that our employees, and the culture they live in, remain as high quality as they always have been.

Promoting Employee Health and Wellness

Since 2004, Perrigo has offered its employees formalized wellness programs, as well as the support and encouragement to stay healthy and safe. This includes, but is not limited to, annual biometric screenings, an onsite wellness center in Allegan or gym membership reimbursement, education and coaching, and sponsorships of fitness related events. As a result, recent biometric screenings have shown Perrigo employees in the U.S. maintain, on average, healthier cholesterol, glucose and blood pressure than the U.S. average.

Perrigo recognizes that safety and health are personal as well as job-related. Personal wellness programs are available for all U.S. locations and we are actively expanding these programs to locations outside the U.S.

Occupational Health and Safety

Our commitment to employee health and wellness includes ensuring on-the-job safety. For the second year in a row, Perrigo achieved a new record low in Total Recordable Injury Rates (TRR) of 1.18. This is down 17% from the previous year, and continues to trend 38% lower than the pharmaceutical industry average.

Talent Management and Diversity

In addition to employee health and well-being, identifying, acquiring, retaining and developing talent continues to be a key strategy and commitment for Perrigo. This commitment has resulted in a high rate of hires and promotions from within our own ranks, in addition to attracting some of the best minds in the industry from around the world.

With an ever increasing geographic presence, Perrigo also remains more committed than ever to promoting diversity and inclusion companywide.

Recognizing Veterans, Active and Retired

Perrigo believes the men and women who dedicate their lives and service to their country should be thanked, appreciated and recognized for their unique skills and talents that only military service can provide. That is why we have created a Veteran's Steering Team to help guide activities and policies around veterans, as well as build awareness and education about veteran skill sets.

Corporate Compliance and Governance

Core to Perrigo's global compliance program is the adherence to our Core Values: Integrity, Respect and Responsibility. These values are supported within Perrigo's Code of Conduct, with which all employees are expected to comply. These Core Values are further supported by policies, auditing, training, an anonymous reporting system, our Executive Committee, and a team of over 50 Compliance Coordinators to ensure governance is maintained at even our smallest sites.

Protecting Human Rights in the Supply Chain

Respecting the human rights of our employees is a core value and one that we expect our business partners to share. As articulated in Perrigo's Supplier Code of Conduct, Perrigo is committed to doing business with ethical companies. This means, ensuring that all products manufactured or services conducted on behalf of Perrigo are done so in a manner that does not violate any law, risk the health or wellbeing of the person involved, or violate, whether direct or indirect, any human rights. This commitment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Ensuring safe working conditions for all factories involved with Perrigo production
  • Prohibiting the use of any child or forced labor
  • Seeking to eliminate discrimination and exploitation of all forms from the supply chain
  • Strict adherence to local labor, safety and environmental laws and regulations
  • Protecting Perrigo and customer brand reputation

As a sign of this commitment, Perrigo continues to support the Ethical and Social Compliance (E&SC) Program, which abides by the provisions of the CA Transparency Act and UK Modern Slavery Act, as well as customer standards.
