A Spotlight on..... Dustin Rogers

Dustin Rogers is our Sanitation Manager based at our Perrigo Vermont site. Below he shares with us some insights into his evolving career, spanning over a decade at Perrigo! 

 

How long have you worked here? Can you tell us more about your role and background? I have worked at Perrigo for 13 years. My current role is Sanitation Manager in which I oversee the cleaning and sanitation practices in Production and Packaging. I have 13 years of experience with Sanitation in a manufacturing environment where I have performed the work, implemented new practices and overseen projects due to atypical events.

What made you decide to join Perrigo? I started at Perrigo as a temporary employee at the age of 18 just looking for a job. I was hired on full time about a year later in the Packaging department where I was blown away with the machinery used to complete the work. At the time, I did not know how Perrigo would change my career.

How has your career progressed since you joined Perrigo? I started at Perrigo as a temporary employee, and then was hired full time as a Packaging employee in 2008. In 2010, I was promoted to a Work Team Lead within Packaging. Following this in 2013, I took a job with the Master Data team which really helped expand my SAP skills. I also took on additional roles assisting the procurement team. In 2014 an Operations Management trainee position became available in which I was selected for the position. This provided me with the training needed to become a Packaging Supervisor in 2015. In 2020, A new position was created for a Sanitation Manager in which I was awarded.

What keeps you at Perrigo? Perrigo has given me the opportunities to advance my career and has made me feel like they believe in me and want to see me succeed. They have also given me the opportunity to build some remarkable relationships with other individuals. Perrigo provides excellent benefits that support me at work and with my home life.   

What is your favourite part of your role? My favorite part of my current role is the daily challenge. I am still fairly new to my role as Sanitation Manager, and have a lot of learning to do in order to implement the correct practices and procedures. 

What is your career highlight so far? My career highlight so far would be the positive feedback I received from the employees I have managed. Prior to moving into my new role as Sanitation Manager, I worked as a Packaging Supervisor. On my last day as a Packaging Supervisor, my team went around in the morning meeting and individuals started speaking about things I have done well. This to me speaks volumes that I had a team that supported me and believed in my leadership.  

What would you say to people thinking about applying to Perrigo? To people that have not been in a manufacturing setting, I would tell them not to allow the magnitude of the appearance to scare them away. To people that are thinking about transitioning from other manufacturing sites, I would tell them that here you have unlimited possibilities to turn your career into what you would like and to upload your resume today/reach out to a member of the Talent Acquisition team.

How would you describe the company culture? As I mentioned previously, Perrigo has given me opportunities to work with some great individuals that truly want to work hard and get the job done. 

What do you like most about life at Perrigo? Every day, I see the amount of work that Perrigo employees put in across the organization. It has been a great opportunity to be a part of this work, and Perrigo has supported me and so many other in their careers.
