Lan Huo joined Perrigo in August 2019 and is currently responsible for process validation and cleaning validation in the production and packaging at our New York facility.
What made you decide to join Perrigo? I had been seeing products with Perrigo’s logo on the market for some time and I became a consumer myself! It was a dream come true for me to work in a global company where I can see my work makes a difference in peoples’ lives. Perrigo had just acquired Ranir to advance the transformation to a consumer-focused, self-care company. This made me believe in the company’s promising future as there was a strong vision in the company’s long-term objective of growth and development.
How has your career progressed since you joined Perrigo? I have grown a lot since I joined here, especially becoming an expert in process validation for various dosage forms which I have spent several years preparing myself for and building up my knowledge base. Every day I seek to learn new things from my team and invest in the improvement of my role. It is critical to ensure that I deliver a high quality within my role, I believe that I have a long journey to go in becoming an excellent professional to continue contributing to the organization.
What keeps you at Perrigo? I look for companies that not only focus on financial performance but also the people and the planet. I think the CSR of a company should align with its values, brand propositions, and business model. Perrigo does a remarkable job engaging in global contributions, focusing on environmental sustainability, and increasing diversity in the workplace. During the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, Perrigo was an early responder and initiated the formula development and manufacturing of hand sanitizer. I was involved in that project to support the process validation activities. Within a few weeks, hundreds of thousands of product were donated to the community. So proud of my company!
What is your favourite part of your role? The challenge! Anything could happen when performing a validation study even though you plan perfectly. It is vital to observe the event as well as react and support in a timely and efficient manner when an incident occurs. My work also requires collaboration with cross-functional groups, which allows me to improve my interpersonal skills, especially in such a diverse and inclusive environment.

How would you describe the company culture? People are very passionate about their work at Perrigo. Tell us a unique fact about yourself! I love cats. I have a 3-year-old cat. He is adorable, friendly, and very playful. I used to be a volunteer in a local pet store to take care of the cats that were waiting for adoption before COVID-19 surged. I’m planning to go back next year once they resume the pet volunteer program.
